On the afternoon of December 11th I went into hunt one of my favorite stands in south western Catawba County with hopes of killing a doe. Hopes of killing “TIPS” were very slim as every trail camera picture of him this season was at night. He had also not been on camera this year in this location at all. Although in the back of my mind I knew that he may be in the area as he was around the same time last year. Around 5:00 pm he came cruising thru the timber with his nose down eventually stepping into an old logging road giving me a perfect 20 yard shot. Although “Tips” was not my biggest buck I had had on camera this year he was my #1 target buck due to his age which is believed to be 5 years old. The legend of “Tips” is now over as I have had countless encounters with this buck over the years and I feel very blessed to have been able to harvest such a mature buck.
