I killed this nice buck in Harnett County November 13th, 2018. I have the sheds off this deer from last year. He gained a lot of mass and tine length from the previous year. It makes me glad I didn't get an opportunity for a shot last year because this year he grew into an exceptional buck. This is truly a great buck for this part of the state. Thanks again Harnett County for another great buck to add to my wall.
I actually missed this deer as an 8 point opening morning of the 2014 bow season. I had too many deer on me and had to rush the shot; I got busted drawing the bow and ended up shooting under this deer. One year and a week later, he wasn't so lucky! He had grown into a main frame nine point with a sticker off of the left G2 and is about two inches wider and probably gained about 25 pounds in body weight (weighing in at 192 pounds live weight this year). It goes to show that it's good to miss sometimes, even though it may hurt at the present moment! It puts a new meaning to the phrase 'let em' go, let em' grow.'
