'The big 9' had 1 single picture of him last year he made it back this year after I got a picture of what I was sure was a shooter I talked to a buddy about 2 miles up the road and he had him on camera in velvet well this deer had moved to the property I hunt and was showing up about once or twice a week closest to daylight was 5:46 a.m. well I had been seeing bucks chasing doe around my house and the second day of muzzleloader I decided to go sit on him because i knew i had doe in every morning and evening in daylight made it to the stand late because i forgot it would get light earlier with the time change made it to the stand at 6:20 and it was already daylight put out some black widow deer lure and hit my extinguisher grunt call and rattled my black rack antlers a few times and just sat there nothing about 10 minutes later did the same then I seen a cast of the deer coming through the thick part of saplings and thought it was the 8 I had on camera until he turned and seen he was the 9 I waited until he stepped from behind the tree and put my cross hairs on his front shoulder and squeezed the trigger on my cva wolf I was so excited I must of pulled to the left a bit and hit him in the neck needless to say he dropped at 6:50 a.m. I was ecstatic I called my buddy and him and his kids came over to help me get him in the truck.
On September 9th 2013 I had planned on going hunting so I took the whole day off. Not thinking much of it I decided to just sit on a dove seat in a cut over butting up to a soy bean field. Little did I know what I was in for at about 6:30 the deer started to appear two young bucks started there way feeding into the field and then I noticed they kept looking to there right which was my left so I started paying attention to the left side of the field and then the bucks started pouring in a couple of young 6 pointers a couple of 4 pointers and that was all I saw so after looking back at the first two bucks I then looked back to my left and there he was a massive full velvet buck then it began my heart was then pounding adrenaline rushing shaking vigorously then the younger bucks started feeding closer to me and then one pin pointed me a little 4 point so I remained still not even wanting to blink then he blew and all the deer scattered except the one I was wanting to take so I said this is my only chance so I pulled back my bow places my 30 yard pin on him took a deep breath and released the and as I did that I seen him turn and then I heard the pop so I knew I hit him but not sure how good so after that I went and looked for my arrow and there it was broken in half so I looked around the arrow and there it was the first spot of blood so I pulled back and gave him some time about an hour later I went back and the search was on finding a drop here drop there then it was on the blood trail got more visible and the amount increased then there he was about 70 yards in the woods leaned up against a oak tree he ended up being a main frame 9 with 2 kickers then when I grabbed a hold of his 5 1/2 inch base it sank in but still not know where I hit him I looked around and there it was on the inner thigh luckily it hit an arterie poor shot but I had my full velvet 155 5/8 in. 11 ptr. in my hands
I appreciate the complements guys and forgot to put I shot him in person county on family owned land
