On November 29,2014 in Gates, NC, the temperature was 30 degrees all day, I bagged this nice 12 pointer. I am a member of the Roduco Hunting Club located in Northeaster NC. We hunt over 1000 arcs of woodland and swamps. This morning around 8am I released my dogs into a cut over. Once my dogs enter the cut over, they jumped this buck and the chase was on. This buck cover almost all the 1000 arcs to lose the dogs but the dogs were lock on to him. I was able to follow the deer closely because my dogs were equipped with GPS tracking collars. I was also able to get in front of the deer and dogs. I was waiting and the deer appeared out the swamp and I shot him one time and he dropped like a ton of bricks. I hunt with a Beretta 391, 12ga, Shot size: 3' 00 Buckshot by: Windcheater (Copper plated)
On April 27, 2013, I entered my turkey blind around 5:30am. About 5:45 am I heard 5 gobblers gobbling about 50 yards away. I first used my
old stand by box caller. All five of the turkeyâs gobbled back but wouldn't come my way. I then used my glass slate caller and once again they gobbled back but wouldn't come my way. I then used a new box caller I just bought that has a high pitch sound and all 5 gobbled back but one of the gobble sounded as if he was breaking away from the other 4 gobblers and was coming my way. As I kept calling him he got closer and closer. When he came in about 25 yards I stopped calling. I could hear him walking but could not see him. He circled to the right of me and came to the camp road I was set up on which was about 30 yards away. I smoked him in his tracks with My Beretta 390 extra full choke with number 6 shots 3 inch Winchester copper plated. He weighed 23 lbs., had a 10 inch beard and one and a half inch spurs. Thanks for your comment. I believe he's around 3 to 3.5 years old. I sending you a picture of one I killed in 2011. He was 25 lbs, 11.5 beard and 1.5 spurs.
Thanks for your comments. Yes, 1.5 spurs. We have alot of turkey's on our hunting land this year. Most of our land is swamp land, with many pines and oak trees. I going this weekend and hope to get one bigger. We try not to shot young birds.
This is not the same buck. I killed a 10 pointer or 11 point how you look at it in 2009. This is a 12 pointer in 2014. I am just have been bless to be able to harvest nice bucks.
