Hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas! Apologize, for my absence....Been a real busy fall, but did get a few trips to the woods! Early in rifle season was able to take my preacher with me on a cabarrus county rifle hunt to my honeyhole spot! Guess what.....Nada thing! Was able to return 2 days later with the weather cooperating, to the same stand and harvest a really nice 7pt. Man, I hated to inform preacher of what had happened! He weighed 155#, and had an inside spread of 17 1/4. Later on in the same week was able to hunt with my 5year old and harvest a really nice 120# doe! Man was this youngin' pumped up after the shot! I certainly have been blessed this season! P.S. I've been periodically checking the board to see how successful everyone has been this year....'High-Five' to all!!
The boys and I did a 'lil fishin' at Uncle Jakie's and Aunt Betty's house! Man they have a great pond to fish and all I can say is my boys had an incredible time! Many fish were caught...bass, bream, mudfish, jackfish, and catfish!
Same to you on your '05 SP bearded hen! About a week before harvesting him I had surgery! So I thought about for a few weeks, then decided to go with caping him out into a rug! Wish I could have afforded to full mount him! Gonna attempt to harvest his brother next spring, and if so he ought to be a nice 2yr. old, then I might be in a better situation!
After being laid up in the hospital and recouping at home after surgery on 5/8. It certainly was a nice surprise when I opened up the june issue and saw that I had won something! Not since elementary school had I won anything! Quite a surprise!! Doing great, low and slow! Did go for a walk around a farm pond with my 4 year old! He caught a few bream! Ready to get back in the swing of things! Thanks!
Killed this gobbler 4/23. 18 1/2 lbs. 5' beard, and 5/8 spurs! Have not harvest a jake in years but could not pass up the chance at this rare bird! All I could say that morining was 'wow', how blessed to be in the woods this morning!
Dad, along with his favorite future hunting buddies! Last but not least a fine NC gobbler. 22lbs. 11 1/2 beard, and 1' spurs!
Really could not ask for a better Turkey season! Got to hunt a total of 4 hunts, one with my 4 yr, old! We almost scored on our 1st trip to the turkey woods together! Got this one a few days later. Have seen 1 or 2 hens this color, but never a gobbler! Smoke Phase NC Gobbler 18 1/2# 5' beard, 5/8 spur. Swampprowler usually doesn't harvest a juvenile, but this one was quite rare! He came in soundin' like a full grown thunder chicken gobblin' his head off with 2 other fellas! It really was sight to see! Then a few days later. Had a great hunt in iredell county! Harvested a great bird 22# 11 1/2' beard, 1' spurs! My two best hunting buddies got a chance at a photo opt with their BIGGEST FAN, DAD!!
