This was my first hog, a large boar. I was unaware that we had them on the property I was hunting until my game camera told me otherwise. I was hunting from a stand overlooking a thicket. By the time I saw him and could get my Marlin 30/30 on him, he was at 30 yards. I squeezed the trigger and he never acknowledged that he had been hit. He took off running through the thicket quickly disapperaring out of sight but could still be heard in the leaves moving around. It sounded like he had just ran about 40 yards and stopped. I gave him 30 minutes but was still cautious about getting down. I had to tie my action up to lower my weapon and I didnt want to be on the ground playing peek-a-boo with a hog while I was untying my Marlin. I called my Grandpa and waited on him to show up so we could go track him together. At first we found no blood, then we found a little. I decided to walk in the direction I had last heard him. I went about 30 yards and there he was! My 30/30 hadn't even made a pass through at 30 yards! We found the bullet lodged in the tough hide on the other side!
