  • Trail cameras dont lie and after a month of pictures from several different cameras this Lee County 10 point finally made an apperance. After passing on a small 8 point earlier in the morning it seemed as if my hunt was coming to an end. At 9:45 several does came over the hill and 15 minutes later so did he. At 10:05 this buck gave me the shot I had been looking for and the celebration started. Good end to a good week of hunting with family and friends!

Tried to get out, didn't make it to far, came back in for some good Redfish. Live bait was the ticket, pogeys spread out but after a dozen throws had the livewell full. Hooked up to a big spinner shark too for some great action.

After a long and slow day in the stand and over 10hrs of not seeing a deer, I finally caught movement on a ridge about 400 yards away. After many attempts with the grunt call, I finally got his attention. He froze and just stared down the ridge in an attempt to find the grunts. He was moving away from me when he stopped, so in a last ditch attempt to get him to turn and come my way I tried a snort wheeze. I've spooked some deer before with this call so I wasn't sure how he would react, but I guess it was just lucky timing, cause he broke in a half trot down the ridge in my direction. He circled around behind me trying to get down wind and came up the creek. I stopped at about 90 yards in an opening and my CVA optima pro 50 cal. took over. He broke off over 8' on his main beam, he's a 4 yr old and gross scored in the mid 130's as an 8 pt. My best 8 pt. buck. What made it better some of my best friends were there to share it with me.
