  • Well got the day off to hunt and after 2 hours of talking back and forth on a hung up tom I finally get him to come on in and at 10 paces I pull the trigger and CLICK off he runs so I pull out the shell and the primer has a good dent in it. Im guessing it was a dud. O well thats why they call it hunting.

    April 30, 2013 at 3:15pm

Well a gobbler finally showed up today I was doing some yard work about noon and heard a gobbler out in the woods behind the house I told Jesse to get his gun and full camo, and hurry up. We got set up and I called and he sounded off about 200 yards to the north so we sat tight, and after a little running and gunning he finally dropped a nice jake, he was slipping into our decoys silently while the long beard was henned up IT was an awesome hunt and a great dinner ..jager...

    April 07, 2013 at 6:12pm

I havent had turkeys roost on a hill behind the house as normally. I have had alot of owls hanging around . is that why??

    April 07, 2013 at 8:50am

Well Im done for now. I called TRuglo to see if they had data anywhere avalible to see what load worked best in there gobblestopper ported choke he said no data is to be had. I bought some hevi magnum and it too basicly had no pattern at 30 yards.. they asked if I could adjust my sights. I said without a pattern there is no adjustment. They said If you dont like it bring it back... Basicly there chokes suck and Im just gonna shoot under 30 yards.

    April 05, 2013 at 1:56pm

So I bought the 20 guage 870 express for my son. They didnt have the hs tube so I got the truglo.Gobbler xtreme. I patterned some rem. mag 3' 1.25 oz. #6 shot, not real impressed 12 in the head at 40yrds. They say not to shoot hevi shot or federal #7s from a ported choke tube.Im wondering if any one has a simalar set up and what ammo yall prefer??? help times running out ..jager..

Whats your favorite call to use brand type, ect, mine is hands down a raspy hen mouth call. different brands Ill mix it up for different pitches ect. Just wondered if yall have to buy new ones every season like I do. Is there any way to make them last longer?? Im thinking about getting me one of those fancy spurswaders though If heard ALOT of good things about them calls.

    March 23, 2013 at 8:10am

any body getting slabs in the shallows at high rock yet. whats the water temp? seen a ton of parked cars on 47 this weekend

    March 19, 2013 at 7:41am

Good morning everybody. So I was wondering if any body shoots a 20 for turkeys. I realize it may be a little under powered but I reckon IT can get the job done inside 30 yards. My son Jesse is ready to go this year and my 12 is a little to much gun I think. Im thinking a 20 guage combo bird and buck barrel will work a couple years for deer and birds and such. What do yall think?/ Yesterdays rain brought the birds into the winter wheat field ,6 jakes 1 long beard 4 hens. Cant wait to call one in for Jesse.

    March 19, 2013 at 7:38am

Hey hows everyone doing. I bought my son a M4-22.CAL. Awsome little tactical shooter, anyways it seems that my favorite cci minimags are not avalible anywheres. I told the guy at wally world I looked online for an hour and none to be had.I said theres to many folks stockpiling to much is the problem.A women there said her hus band is a chemiist and the govs. changing gun powder formulas so itll only last for 2 years hugh??. I read wally world has no plans to order new ammo????? do to the bans ect. and bills in congress.

HAVENT posted in a while, been real busy. Any ways ,in my neck of the woods, the big day for the first NOV. rut occurred on 11-20-12. Is ay it based on a crap load of deer movement, chasing and daytime action . It lasted for 2 days and then shut down to a slow normal here. My thoughts are the Dec rut is on right now . based on the same action as the first rut, just not as extreme. This weekend should be awsome with the cold coming back. Im still after the bruzer leaving the sign around here. Anyways congrads to all who scored , and good luck to those still in the hunt...jager..

    December 19, 2012 at 10:08am

    your move darling!!

    November 28, 2012 at 6:29am

Well tomorrow is supposedly the peak of the rut .What do yall think?? Anybody been seeing any chasing by more than 1 buck? how about reckless behavior by a mature buck?? Bucks moving at mid day?? what have you seen as indicators?? I think its at least a week later.

    November 14, 2012 at 5:31pm

So I found a spot on a small nob, about 30 yards circle around.ceder trees destroyed and major league rubs and scrapes all over this spot. do I watch this spot from down wind as much as possible or back off a few hundred yrds to call, put out scent, rattle, or what. there is oaks near by but spread out so its a crap shoot where to sit Im nervous to blow a great chance at a big buck?? What would yall do in this situation?? also a stream in this spot 100 yrds east of this bedding nob HELP..jager.

    November 13, 2012 at 12:24pm

went out behind the house 500am. got ready for the pressure. Two of my three boundry sides are posted. Ive hunted 3states on opening day of gun and theres always a lot of shooting the first and last hour of daylight. I heard duck or goose hunters about 3 miles away first, then nattaa, maybe 3 shots within 5 miles till 10 am and at dark nothing. I was all geared up for the BIG day and was let down and suprised at the lack of shooting in general. So im wondering on avarage how much shooting yall here on gun opener???? My next move is to go to gameland I generally hunt escape routes during gun. Any body want to recomend GL within an hour or so of davidson with a bunch of deer I dont care about crowds as long as theres some deer..jager..

I either use a really lightwieght mesh that is a camo colored brownish that my mom in law made for me. She got the fabric at joannes fabric I think. It is lighter than air almost with elastic around the bottom and fits under my hat and I can seee right through it. IT works really great..jager..

Hey bud. I think that the vibration might cause the drooling and such but Im no scientist. As far as mouth calls though I like the sound you can get out of the triple reeds. There real raspy like an older hen. Once you get used to them they will be youre go to favorite call. I guarantee it..jager..

I cleaned the barrel and inspected it, and it shined but had obvious high and low spots was rough. Todays products are a far cry from years past . Fit and finish on this gun is lame for 400$$$$
