On saturday morning nov 24th 2012 i was sitting in my box stand rifle hunting with my newly aquired winchester model 70 in 270 an as the sun rose i saw the usual two 6 month old fawns grazing in the field. while sitting there wishing i hadn't sold my bow before my new mathews chill got here i was day dreaming an thinking about mom cooking breakfast when about 7:30am I look up an see a new face entering the field i look through the scope an see it the 5 point that i knew i wanted gone so i put the crosshairs on him a squeeze the trigger an he drops in his tracks i was tickled i looked back through the scope to make sure he was down for the count and as i raised my head from my rifle i look back up the hill and see another buck coming down the exact same way so I put my head back down an seen it was a six point an without thinking i put the crosshairs on him an boom he drops in his tracks. By this time i am shaking from all the excitment so i sat there a few minutes before attempting to get outta the stand to go check them out. At first i thought i made a mistake on taking the six but after some thought on how similar the two bucks were i figured it might be a good thing an decided just to enjoy the fact that i got to take two bucks in less than a minute of each other. Later on that day i decided i was going to do a skull mount on both bucks just to rememder the day cause its not everyday that you can shoot two back to back. I was curious to find out the age of both deer and pulled there lower jaw bone off an sent a pic to a buddy of mine that ages deer. both jaw bones were the same an both turned out to be 2.5 year old bucks. now that i have my buck tags filled(and freezer too) i can now relax an take out some does an give my family some meat as a gift. i thank god for allowing me to have such an amazing morning hunt and hope everybody else has had the same.

After seeing GT's post about his bow it reminded me that i haven't shared my new toy. After buying a hoyt turbo vector in February and spending months shooting i finally came to the conclusion that the bow just didn't fit me so i put it on archery talk for trade and luckily the first offer was the bow i wanted to trade for. This is a 2012 prime shift an all i can say about this bow is WOW. this thing fits me to a tee. i have a 28' draw an shoot a 390 grain arrow so when i ran this through the chronograph an found i was shooting 285 fps i was amazed that not only was it smoking fast but it is the most accurate bow i have owned. For the rest i went with the 2012 trophy taker extreme fc. the sight is a Montana black gold single pin ascent. When i said accurate i meant it i can hit a 1/2' dot at 25 yards and learned real fast that i don't shoot more than one arrow at a dot unless i feel like buying more lol. It feels good to have a bow that i am confident in shooting so now if i can get them smart mountain whitetails to stop coming into the field on the opposite side that I'm hunting then just maybe i can break this bow in right an put some meat in the freezer.

Finding the prefect bow is probably impossible lol
now since you have a price range set for a bow look around at serval bow shops and tell them what your looking for an state your price range firmly for 500 bucks you can get a really nice bow that's only a year or two old. I would suggest to look at the bows for sale on archery talk or If you see something you like try to find a bow shop that has one like it an shoot it before you buy it. Another thing try to stay away from bows that are older that you have to change draw length on because finding the modules or cams can be a little tricky.
Btw the prime impact I just bought is new and 2013 model so I didn't get no deal on it lol. If you have any questions feel free to contact on Facebook my name is Jeff Icenhour

I hadn't got mine yet should be here next week but I go and shoot my backup bow down at droptine archery alot here lately and he has one there that I've shot a few times lol I love the thing with nothing but a rest an a dloop you can shoot it with no vibration or noise after the shot at all it will almost make you wonder if you shot it. The new camera is amazing it ultra smooth with no hump entering the valley. The handle is thinner an fits better to its also removable in case you want a thinner handle. I am excited about this bow an if you get a chance go shoot one. I don't know if you will justify getting rid of your centroid cause it a sweet shooter too but it will definitely be fun to shoot

A comment titled: Reason I sold it in response to a report titled: Entry-level bow

This last year I wanted to find a bow that fit me to a tee I started out with a hoyt vector turbo that I didn't get along with at all and traded for this one which basically shot itself but one thing I didn't like was how the cams broke over so hard and the limb stops hit pretty harsh and made a little thud noise that a deer could hear(first hand experience) so I decided to sell it an find one that didn't do that. Since the time I have sold it I have gained a little more knowledge about drawing a bow an when to admit that 70 pounds might be a little to much to control throughout the draw cycle so I spent so time looking around for a 60 pound bow that has a smooth draw an all the little things I like on a bow an ended up buying a 2013 prime impact an the reason why is because I could stop anywhere in the draw cycle and hold it an ideal could ease the bow into full draw at a very slow motion with no sudden drops or humps to deal with. Let me also say this is know you can kill anything with a 200 dollar bow as well as a 1000 dollar one but it's all about personal preference plus I wanted a bow that I can target shoot with an hunt with too and the new prime impact fits what I was looking for

Seek help at a proshop if your looking for one i recommend droptine archery in advance nc. Robert is one of the best an plus he has an indoor range that you can shoot at. it will be worth the drive for his help in my opinion its the only real proshop in the area.

A comment titled: my two cents in response to a report titled: Questions about my bow

Question 1 i would need a little more info to tell you what spine you need an offer suggestions on arrows for your setup .
question 2 is all up to you as a shooter if you like it keep it.
question 3 is also personal but i shoot a thumb release due to the fact that most wrist strap releases i feel like the trigger is to far away an i have to stretch my finger to get to the trigger. I will also tell you a thumb release promotes better form.
question 4 as long you stay away from the .003 an .001 striaghtness the arrow companies offer then you can pick whatever company you want too i prefer Easton arrows an would recommend the powerflight arrow they make.

If you are in touch with gobblintom get my number an call me i can plug your bow specs into my shaft selector program an get the spine length an tip that would work best for your setup. I would not recommend trying to do it yourself just learn how to shoot properly because setting up a bow can be a little tough lol i enjoy it though

A comment titled: reasons in response to a report titled: Harvest Report

People often confuse ehd with CWD. CWD is spread by saliva an is the reason to spread feed out inside of piling it up. ehd is spread by a biting fly/knat
GT when i said factory i meant the does buck are basically the workers an i only takes one work to keep producing lol

A comment titled: ehd in response to a report titled: Harvest Report

Lol wilkes has plenty of hunters that shoot anything ehd is more due to whether conditions that produce the knat that bites the deer an infects them it just more obvious in overpopulated deer heards an is not something you will stop by thinning the heard

A comment titled: urban areas in response to a report titled: Harvest Report

Urban area are covered in deer an you can't gun hunter that's why the bowhunters association is pushing the urban archery season in that county an as far as controlling population it only takes one buck to breed a doe so why in the world would u have a four buck limit in an area that is needing does gone. anyone with a brain could figure out that if you remove the factory you stop the production of the product. That's how these areas got this way the old timers didn't shoot does cause they wanted more deer.

A comment titled: wrong in response to a report titled: Harvest Report

Viper that's about the most full of crap thing I've heard. how can you base any facts for a entire state when its divided into different regions that have different limits its best to break down by county an if you do that you will see a different result. Yes people need to kill more does but look at the new hunters an see that most kill bucks first an in most counties you will see that a majority of them kill the bucks most most don't come close to filling doe tags an that's just not me say it its there in black an white in your handbook if the ncwrc really wanted to improve the heard they would make the whole state a two buck to 4 does limit an come up with a way to encourage people to take the does before a second buck. until they do this all the ncwrc is doing is promoting the wiping out of the whole heard!
