Does anyone know of a good taxidermist that mounts ducks? Looking around the Raleigh, Smithfield area but willing to drive farther if the price is right. Thanks!!

Sorry, here are the two pics!

    September 08, 2012 at 6:30pm

Do you guys think this is the same deer? I hunted a different spot Sat. morning but I'm going here tomorrow. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks and Happy Hunting

    September 08, 2012 at 6:26pm

I know I only come here for advice, but I do read all posts everyday and love the videos. Question is for the turkey hunters. Do you guys ever put your decoys out the night or aftternoon befor the opener? Pros or Cons? I was thinking it would be easier to slide in to set up Saturday morning with less comotion. GT, watched your video in the rain and it got me pumped up!! Congrats to the new moderators also!!

What is a good turkey braodhead to use. I currently shoot 125 grains for deer and I'm assuming I need to get something close to that for tagging a turkey. I know it will be a challenge but I have seen plenty of turkeys with more places to hunt. I have looked at Magnus. Please let me know what you guys think. Any help would be appreciated!!

    February 05, 2012 at 11:35am

Hey guys! Haven't been on in a while and haven't seen the deer stand much either due to work. Got all next week off to hunt and I'm pumped up for it. Been following all the posts and from my cams nothing great, still looking for that first bow kill. I know it's rifle season, but I'm gonna carry the bow and leave the 300 mag in the truck! The cooler westher has turned them on, I believe. Every day on my way to work there are 2 new dead deer on 40 going towards Raleigh. Good luck to you all and maybe I will post something next week!

My twin girls have expressed interest in going archery hunting with me this year. They are only 11 and want to take it slow the first year so I'm going to buy a blind and take them behind the house. My question to you guys is do you know of any blind that we will all be comfy in? The twins will not be hinting, just observing.

Ok guys, Give me your advice. Thursday is the last day I can hunt this year due to job commitments. Haven't killed a deer in about 4 years. Would like some meat. Do I shoot a couple does ans call it a season or try to hold out for a buck and see what happens?

    November 08, 2010 at 5:19pm

Checked out a new area yesterday and jumped 10 deer on my way in. Hung the climber tonight and also the camera. Maybe something will drop on Weds when I return to hunt. Not a big fan of hanging stands this late in the season, but I needed a change.

    October 11, 2010 at 6:40pm

Have yet to see a shooter buck and does are not coming in close enough. Have about six different spikes, which makes me wonder why there are no big bucks around. Every time I hunt and check the cam all does and spikes. Maybe its time to move stands. I can only hunt till Nov. 8th. Suggestions?

    October 06, 2010 at 5:08pm

Just wanted to say good luck to all on Saturday. This is my second year bowhunting and I will probably be too excited to post tomorrow night. I took the advice of Viper and got the harness. Also got the Thermacell and even though there is nothing big on the cam I can't wait to go. Can't wait to get high on the new sport and climb a tree!! Good luck to you all!!

    September 09, 2010 at 6:33pm

Leaving the house at 5:15 am to leave for work this morning. Noticed something coming down tree line by the house , so I started the car and whipped around the lights to my suprise to have a coyote in my subdivision. The dog in the back yard didn't even bark. Saw several this year, but not this close to the house.

New archer here. I have been reading all your guys posts for the last two years. Make a long story short, started with a cheap 100.00 Golden eagle, no let off, nothing. Got the Block, 3-d Target and lots of practice. Went out last year and hit a buck that needed culled. Couldn't find him, but now I'm addicted!! Got a new Mission BX-1 and awhole bunch of new sights and arrows. Not much on the camera but I'm wondering why I didn't do this earlier. Good luck to you all on 9-11, I'm already pumped!!

A comment titled: Decoys in response to a report titled: Advice

Thanks for all the advice folks. Only reason I thought about putting them up Friday night was to make less noise that morning, thats all. To Gt, the decoys I am using are from Cabelas. One jake, one feeding hen and one upright hen. Had to buy new decoys this year due to losing my best friend and turkey hunting buddy last summer. Good luck to all this weekend.

Thanks so much GT!! Yeah, i got several private spots this year and not a lot of pressure, so I thought I would try it this year. The Remington with Pure Gold choke will not be far away though. Thanks again!!

Hey Gt, Thanks. Was supposed to go to Pa next week and hunt whitetails with my cousin, but due to some health issues Dr said no driving that far. Kind of a good thing being the weather is gonna be fine next week here. Did you resolve your issue with the wet corn? There is a guy in my club that soaks his corn in a 5 gallon bucket for a few days then puts it out. He says it make the corn swell up and the deer will smell it better, not sure if this true or not. Take care and good luck!

Awesome video. It just goes to show you never know what will happen in the woods. Good or bad, it beats work. When I was in the stand Thursday morning the best thing was smelling the morning , when the sun came up and warmed up the woods. Guys, just get out there and enjoy!!

A comment titled: Doe vs. Buck in response to a report titled: Last Day

Thanks so much Viper!! I actually think the six was chasing the doe that morning. When I pulled the trigger and the buck jumped about 4 feet off the ground I saw does running everywhere. The 300 didn't leave me anything on the left front though. Can you say hot sausage?

A comment titled: Finally!! in response to a report titled: Last Day

Well, after job promotions and going to bow hunting and nothing happened. Haven't killed one for three years. Hunted Thursday morning and saw 3 small bucks chasing one doe. They were here and gone in about 45 seconds. Went back that afternoon and got in the stand at 3:30 and shot a small 6 at 3:40. I know I should have let him go but the guys in my club told me that since I haven't killed anything for a while to shoot whatever, so I did. Dropped him off at the butcher today. Hopefully around the holidays I can harvest a big doe. Thanks Guys!!

Yeah Viper, thats what I'm thinking too, would love to smell some sausage!! Plus, if I wait for a buck it could be another lost season. Thanks for the input.

Thanks Viper!! Hope to put the wallhanger down with the 300 and a doe with the bow I guess that's why they call it hunting. Did you send Sky Scraper off to the taxidermist?

A comment titled: Next week in response to a report titled: Weekend Bow Hunting

Got approval for all next week off. Plan on carrying the 300 in the morning and the bow in the pm. I've been using Field and Stream lunar charts and they have been accurate. Just curious to what yours say if you don't mind looking. Good luck with the bow this weekend. I still want my first with the bow and hopefully I can do it next week.

A comment titled: Switched in response to a report titled: Hoping

Hey Gt, Carried the 300 yesterday. Not sure if I'll go back to the bow or not. I am realizing bow hunting is far more of a challenge than rifle. Last week I pulled on two does at dark and couldn't find them in my pins and than on Thursday night they were coming in again and the stinking fedder went off and spooked them.

A comment titled: Luck in response to a report titled: Hoping

Hey Gt. Had to work Sat morning and the only thing I saw was 4 does and a basket 6 or 8 right at dark, just as Vipers lunar charts predicted. This is the first time this year I saw a buck with does. Maybe the rut will be soon.

A comment titled: Today in response to a report titled: Anyone Hunt Today?

Hey Viper. Couldn't hunt in the morning due to work. Got in the stand around 4:30 and don't you know how accurate those lunar charts are. Right at dark I saw 4 does and a basket 6 or 8, too dark to shoot. Maybe another day.

A comment titled: My Opinion in response to a report titled: New Pics from New spot

First pic would go either way, bow or rifle, being I never killed one with a bow. Second pic would would have to wait on him for a year. Hard to say that is such a small tract. Thats what I worry about, if you let them walk doesn't mean somebody else will. Good luck!!

Thanks guys!! Looking forward to Weds night hunt. Nice this about this location is that I can see whats around for rifle if I get a chance to hunt due to work. Come Nov 8th I'm pretty much shut down. Thanks again and hopefully I can post a doe kill tomorrow night.
