  • Had 14 deer with 6 being bucks enter a bean field at sun down and there was 2 bucks bigger than this guy but light was fading so instead of trying a 53 yard shot, I took a 35 yard shot on this guy.

My daughter has scored on opening day 3 of the last 4 years!! After our successful hunt I gave her a special call I had made for her. I also want to share the hunt in her own words as she shared it on FB: here's what she wrote........4th year in a row and 3rd down. As we walked across the field with excitement and eagerness, memories for another youth day were in the making. You see as we moved to more level ground and ended up getting in a fight with velcro, we were here for memories whether that be with or without a kill. After we got situated (and daddy calmed down from the velcro war) I said 'Daddy, give me your hand' *he hands me his hand* I said 'We're gonna pray, not aloud;in your head but we're gonna pray', I haven't yet gotten the chance to talk with daddy about his prayer but mine was as follows: 'Dear Lord, please keep us, friends, family, and fur (my special saying for prayer) safe as we're not all together physically but connected at heart, safe. Let us have a good time on this hunt, whether we kill one or not only you know, just please keep us safe. If we kill one, a blessing from you has been given, if not, a blessing has been giving. Thank you for everything and for waking us this morning and giving us the privilege of being on your beautiful creation known as Earth. I love you. *blows kiss* Amen.' Later as we discovered we mind as well have been in the same sleeping bag with a gobbler, we got eager. Even through the discouragement when the bird(s) were leaving and coming back and leaving and coming back and so on, one made sure the other kept faith. Then came the hens, oh the hens. 3 of them to be exact, one was huge. The moment of truth was questioned, were these gobblers gonna let these hens get away? I looked up and kept nudging and nudging 'daddy, daddy, look look'. I saw a red head, then another, then a strutter, then another red head. Destined, I shot the strutter because daddy has always said they're the intimidator. Ending our moments in the blind with the sounds of flopping and high fives and smiles, we walked up to the bird (Rocky) more smiles and hugs of proudness followed, love and passion for huning was shared between father & daughter. God is good, God is great. Thank you daddy, couldn't have done it without you. I love you.

After several close encounters with this Buck in Rockingham County during Atchery season, my pal Don let me have a chance at him again on Nov 14 with my rifle and after a complete all day sit I tried the rattling antlers with 15 minutes of daylight left and it worked!!! He came charging in so fast I lost sight of him trying to steady my shooting stick but finally got a 100 yard shot!!!

    January 01, 2016 at 11:05am

What a year it's been for us!!!! Started the year off tag teaming Gobblers and doubled up twice!!!, had several awesome camping and fishing excursions and then Archery season where Diane took a few deer while I was looking for a nice 1 and on Nov 14th I hooked up with my pal Don again in Rockingham county and after a all day sit I got a good buck!!! Few weeks later I killed a big female yote chasing Turkeys and this morning on the last day of the season I shot another big female yote and Diane got supper with 3 squirrels!!!! Come on April!!

    January 01, 2016 at 10:57am

What a season so far!!!!! I keep calling and the Gobblers keep fallin!!!! Got my Daughter her 2nd Gobbler during youth week and then Found Diane a nice Gobbler the first 20 minutes of opening day and then Diane00 and myself tagged teamed a few at Mid-day!!! Nice its time to Catfish!!!!!!!!

You Guys think this is a Mature Buck? He has a nice Profile and Mass and tine length isn't impressive nut if we crossed paths, Id be happy to put my 2nd tag on him I'm thinking?

    November 09, 2014 at 7:24pm

Out of 17 Different Bucks on my Camera, I said this 10 point would be the only 1 I'd take from my area and sitting all day through the Rain and the wind paid off as he stepped out alone at 4:45 Opening Day of Black Powder...I killed a Nice 8 from this stand under same conditions 2 years ago and again on opening of BP and again at 4:45!!!

    November 06, 2014 at 10:42am

Well if you haven't heard and I'm sure you have.... The giant buck I have been after 3 years was killed Thursday morning by crossbow hunter Steven Davis of Davidson county about 5 road miles from where I got countless trail cam videos and pics of him but only about a mile as the crow flies. I talked to Mr. Davis Thursday night for a few hours and got the play by play and congratulated him. He had no prior history with the buck and just put his stand up opening evening, baited and hung a camera. He actually saw the deer Sunday evening on his first sit and each sit after that at various ranges but never close enough for a shot. He pulled card and found the huge buck was spending entire day in the beans around his stand with a younger 6 point Steven named Youngblood. It was Thursday morning when Youngblood led freak nasty in front of Stevens 15 foot ladder stand and noticing the alertness of the monster, he knew it was now or never so he sent a bolt from 35 yards to his target that found it's mark and at the end if a 150 yard blood trail,Steven found his prize dead in a flowing creek. I'm sad but happy at the same time that this buck was took legally because several people had reported seeing him in the beans in the Kate evening so Congrats Mr. Davis on a deer of a lifetime. I've always said since I first gout a video of this buck that he was a deer that would put Davidson county on the big Buck map and sir....you did it!!!

    September 20, 2014 at 5:43am

Grabbed a few and lost a few...And was able to talk my Daughter into going today and we had a blast...with everyone in the water we didn't have a video man but still took a few pictures before we released them back. Guessing 1 was around 30 and other was about 20ish

    July 07, 2014 at 8:44pm

They wont bite, so I went after'em lol

    July 05, 2014 at 9:30am

Not sure where I'll hang them but excited about getting my 2 Bucks from last season back.

On My days off I've been Cat-fishing for some R&R (Rod&Reel)relaxation and recently caught my personal 2nd Best with this 48 Pound stud!!! My scales were acting funny being a 50 pound scale but after several readings between 46 and Error I split the difference and called him 48 Pounds. I caught a 54 Pound Flathead in 2011 from this pier and hundreds of pounds of 20s and 30s and all were giving CPR (Caught Photo and Released) to fight another day...Thought Id share some Pictures and also they will have the 3rd annual Mustache Classic Tournament next Sat from 6pm to Midnight at the Wildlife access of High Rock lake...Entry fee is $50 a Boat...Limit of 6 Rods per Boat and 3 Fish Limit at weigh-in...Extra person in Boat is $10 and Big Fish Pot is $20 per Boat...Hope to see you Guys there.

My Girlfriend has been on my Butt with tomorrow being the last day of Deer Season to stop sight seeing and Get some meat!!!! So after I filled my Buck Tags I started meat hunting.... Have seen a Bunch at various locations but I will not shoot if I can\'t tell Does from Button Head Bucks because that\'s a bad feeling to shoot a young buck and today they showed up Early...8 of them and I only had 3 shells in my Gun so I picked out 3 Does and very proud of my shot on number 3 because she was 278 Yards away but anyway, with the price of meat at the store, I Thank the Good Lord for Blessing me and my Family with these Groceries!!!! Look Out Ducks and Squirrels!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW... People can talk crap all they want about Remington Core-lok Ammo but It's not the ammo that's not getting the job done!!!! All 3 of these does Dropped!! Big Doe was 141.2 Pounds

    December 31, 2013 at 6:26pm

Got countless Trail Cam Videos of this Buck and after a Bigger buck I was after disappeared, I switched my efforts back to this Guy. Had a few close encounters but never gave me the shot I was after. Sat all Day in a pouring rain the day after I last seen him only to see a Doe and 3 Point so Christmas Eve, I battled high winds and was rewarded with 15 minutes of daylight left as he followed 7 Does in. I took a Great Buck very similar to this 1 in 2011 from the same stand and again in a very high wind.

    10 Point
    16 1/4 Inside Spread
    163 Pounds even

    December 25, 2013 at 10:20am

Got this Buck several times on Trail Cam and said I would take him if I could and on a Foggy morning on Dec 8, He appeared like a Ghost and was mine.

    7 Point
    22 1/4 Inside Spread
    182.9 Pounds

Well my Rockingham Jinx seems to continue, After watching a Nice Doe Friday evening, I decided to take her for meat...Waited till everything was right and Made a shot at 17 yards, Arrow passed through her and stuck in ground, I wait 2.5 hours and Don, Diane and myself start the Blood trail...which led straight to the river!!! Don starts down river and spots her 50 yards away in a log-jam in middle of River, I start to wade to her and quickly second guess that idea after the water goes over my Boots, Decide to come back at First Light with rope ETC and when I returned, she was gone? either came loose in current and drifted to parts unknown of became water-logged and sunk...Bad Feeling but what can you do? Next evening I hunt where a Big 10 has been showing up and had a great evening as 5 different Bucks paraded around my stand but the 10 never showed but did catch some Video to share...Good Luck to everyone and Stay Safe!!! Noticed a 5 second glitch around the 5.30 mark but really can't see the last 2 Bucks sparring anyway.

    September 30, 2013 at 2:43pm

Was very excited to get these Videos on my Cam...I tried Turkey hunting in this area last Spring because I seen 3 nice long-Beards during October but I couldn't find them in April but I guess they was around the area somewhere lol

    September 05, 2013 at 8:09pm

Haven't seen this Buck since Mid-July and I could tell then that he would probably only be a 6 pointer but have a Big frame....Well he finally showed back up last night (Date is 1 day off on camera)...Seems like 6 pointers is the norm in this area....Would still be a cool European mount lol

    September 05, 2013 at 8:04pm

Me and Holly spent the day on the Yadkin River...It was wayyyy down with trash and trees everywhere...Caught 5 Flatheads but all small and I'm not sure that I didn't catch the same 1 three times lol Anyway, It was the First time I had been out since I did the Camo Job on my Boat and it all stayed on lol..And NO I don't drink a lot of Water...That's my DIY insulated Bait Tank...Bought the Water cooler for $8 at a yard Sale and added Pump....A lot cheaper than the store bought Tanks lol and works great!!!!

There's other sites for people like yourself and I doubt you will see any of us 'KILLERS' on there voicing our opinion about how cute you think Bambi and the Easter Bunny is!!!!!! I should delete your post but opinions should be heard so it will stay but I've got to go before my Deer meat burns!!! Hunting 7 days a week!!!! Gotta love the sound of that!!!!!!! Well.... I said 3 years ago when I got videos on my trail cam of a certain buck that when he gets killed he will put Davidson county on the map and guess what? He's on the home page if this very site right now lol killed almost 5 miles from all the videos I've gotten the last 3 years. 190 7/8 inches and I'm happy and sad at the same time. Sad he's gone and won't be on my camera anymore but happy he was took legally and by a great young man whom I've spoken with and congratulated so NC can grow some great deer but it's a group effort and we all know how that goes lol, I'm just glad Davidson county finally has a giant and I'm tickled he was apart if my life so to speak.

Hmmm? I can honestly say that my experience has been better with Bushnell Cams...Ive owned them all and in my own opinion...Cuddes are OK if you like Pink footage, Stealth Cams aint worth bring home, Wildgame is a Joke (However I have their Card viewer and so far its OK) Moultrie have a mind of their own but do work and so on...I used to use the original TCs and had issues BUT...each time I returned them with the $10 I was sent a newer updated version with No questions asked...I currently run 3 TCs BlackOuts in HD with no issues except the DEMO I bought from natchezs dirt cheap has a buzzing sound during Video but does work...the other 2 are gander Mountain Camo versions and going on 3 years no with no issues!! I even run the cheapo Tractor Supply brand batteries and they last and last...I have got 1 camera that's been running since June and I just recently had to replace the Batteries and that's getting 16 to 200 45 second Videos a week....As far as where you get them...I'd stay with Wally world and keep the receipt because if and when they act up, just take it back and if they give you any lip just Buy another New one and repack the trouble 1 and get a refund lol...Good Luck

A comment titled: Bows in response to a report titled: Buying Bow Online vs LBS

Well....It's always a good idea to buy local and support your local trades and keep our money here but then again, It's hard to not shop around and get a great deal...I've seen people buy arrows for example offline or at a show then take them to their local proshop to be cut when in reality by the time they buy those arrows and drive them to their Bow shop and pay to have them, Cut, Fletched etc and then add in the Gas...I'm sure you could have purchased them for same price or cheaper even at the local shop to begin with? Trust me...The last thing you want to do is over power yourself with a 65/70 pound Bow with a 30 inch draw when you really need a 28 because 1 good string sting on the forearm will cause a bad case of Target panic because each time you draw after that, you'll be thinking about what might happen instead of focusing on your target. I can shoot 70+ pounds easy but my shoulder gives me fits in cooler weather so I just shoot a 50/60 pound Bowtech maxed out at 61 pounds and yet it's still plenty fast and I can draw it smooth even sitting down without waving it over my head trying to get it back....People today are caught up on speed but speed is useless if you can't follow through with a smooth clean draw, and release at your intended target!!

lol Thanks Hawkman, This was the first year we could BowHunt on Sunday and it was actually my Daughters Birthday but she was out with her mom and told me to go hunt and Glad I did, I got tangled up in my HSS lanyard and shot at a weird angle which resulted in me hitting a limb and I hit the buck in front of his Hams but found him the Next Day so Glad I didn't push him!!!

A comment titled: Bows in response to a report titled: Buying Bow Online vs LBS

It's tough to just Buy a Bow and 'Hope' it fits...a pro shop could help you with a lot of things when your just starting out such as comfortable Draw weight, Correct Draw length ETC...Now if you already had these specs, You could check out Archery Talk or add Archery Buy, Sell, Trade to Your Facebook Friends and I've seen some smoking Deals on there as of late but like I stated, Its hard to just pick up a deal on any Bow and expect it to be 'Your' Bow...Everyone has different anchor Points etc not to mention that your Kisser Button and peep with have to be adjusted for your face and anchor point you prefer so I'm guess, You will end up at a Pro shop anyway sooner or later and be Careful buying 'NEW' bows off sites such as Ebay because even though it's a new Bow, The Company usually don't honor the warranty!!! Good Luck

As we have discussed before...If a hunter is using a so and so product and gets *Lucky* then that product worked!!! Did it really? Would he have been just as Lucky without that Product?? Doesn't matter because you will be hard pressed to make him believe otherwise lol...I'vbe talked before about the Guys wearing the $300 scent suits to their stands and just a few days before dumped corn and left the corn bag string that smells like kerosene laying on the ground and wonder what happened but anyway....What I do and laugh if you want. Now I'm not bragging but usually IF I'M PATIENT!!!! I close the Deal on the Buck I'm after...2 of the 3 Bucks I said I would shoot last year, I did!! and 1 came from 45 acres and the other from 17 with pressure all around me and the High Buck that I call a 10 pointer, I shot Christmas Eve..He almost made it lol!! Are they Monsters? NO!! But the mast mature Bucks I have in my area....But..The Earth Scent Wafers by HS Strut that are potent and come 3 to a canister....Eack time I check my Camera I'll put a fresh 1 out and retrieve the other 1 to recharge in the canister...I run 3 cameras so 2 canisters work well and I always put the used 1 on the bottom to keep it simple..I do this everytime I check my cameras and I also keep my Hunting clothes in a airtight container with these same wafers...Deer are creatures of habit so once they get used to the fresh earth smell and it doesn't seem out of place to them...I simply go Hunt...Do I kill Big Deer everytime I go out? Nope!! But along with Rubber Boots, I'm convinced this trick has put the deer I'm hoping to see In front of me during legal light because they have got accustomed to the dirt smell and if anything it tells them, theres fresh Corn out!!! Or you could just leave a corn bag string that's been laying in grease and oil on someones Farm all year lol...BTW, I have tried more products than I care to mention and Trophy Rock gets my Vote!!!!! Good Luck

Like Viper, My 180ss has the Surround Seat and I doubt very seriously there is a more comfortable seat in the woods...You can feel that its made with the closed cell Egg Crate Foam and I sprayed mine with a whole Can of Snow Seal water proof Spray (Not all at once of course, Just coat after Coat once Dry) I'll warn ya though, The seat will COOK!! ya during the warm Days and for that reason I bought a separate Regular Summit Seat. I recently Bought (Then Sold!!) the so called Most comfortable stand out there which was a Lone Wolf Sit&Climb and I tell ya...The Guys using them must be teenage Muscle bound beefcakes because it did not compare to the comfort of my Summit!!!! Whatever you decide, Remember to Buckle up and stay safe!!!
