Well today was opening day of gun season here in the southeast and once again I found myself helping get the population under control on this farm. Wildlife officials say that 50 deer need to go. I've been blessed with 7 of them so far and they won't go to waist, that's for sure.
    I shot the…

We went this morning and I handed a parking ticket out to a doe but my son didn't see anything.
I thought it was too hot this afternoon but my son really wanted to go so guess what - we did. Got in the stands @ 4 and about 6:45 he text me that he just shot a doe. I told him to sit tight and…

HELLO GENTS! I'm new to the forum and NC hunting so hang in there. After a futile preseason effort of hustling and driving all over creation to shake hands with farmers and landowners (seems like every farm or landowner in the state is leased out) I am focusing more on public land now…

Has anyone had a mech broad head not open on impact. I shot a deer last Saturday with no blood trail. I hit it a little far back in the small intestines. The small rubber band was at the back near vain. Does this mean it did not open all the way when it passed through the deer or is this the…

I started shooting Rage last year and I'm still shooting them. I have found that the rubber band most times breaks and falls off but, on occasions has not broken and slid down the arrow. I'm sure the broad head opened. You just don't get a lot of blood from that shot! Good luck on the next one.

Rob Harding took this nice South Carolina Lowcountry whitetail with the bow on Sept 24th 2013. He slid an arrow right behind the shoulder and the buck barely made it 40 yards.

Great Buck and Great Shot Rob!

Go get another one, while they are walking :)

I call this hunt the Cinderella Opener. In the past nine years I have found myself on the side of a tree watching the sunrise on opening bow day but, not this year. This year I had to finish up some work and return rental equipment. I knew the major move time was to be between 1:30pm and 3:30pm so…

Twas' the night before bow season and all through the house, everyone was scurrying, even the mouse! The washer was washing the hunting clothes to kill scent and mom was wondering where the money all went. As I nervously replied that it went for some hunting stuff, she turned away without even a…

I'm looking for some reviews or thoughts on crossbows. My father has been disabled since early 90s and now he wants to get out and try some hunting with me. But he can't pull a compound bow. I know nothing about crossbows so thought I would ask some of you who shoots them. What's a good one?…

My uncle can no longer pull his compound and has bought a crossbow. He really likes it so I will find out what kind it is and get back to you. I do know that it is very heavy. It is also as fast as lightning.

I am looking for a place for me and my son to bow hunt in Guilford County.

I shot this video after having my bow-smith put the new Flightwire by First String, strings and cables on my Hoyt TrykonXL. I chronographed this set up at 294fps. I\\\'m not making excuses but I have not shot my bow since the end of Turkey season.I shot 4 arrows two rounds at 55 yards…

Hey GT, I'm new at this video stuff. You need to give me some lessons like you did with Turkey Hunting....lol! The video didn't upload real smooth. I don't know if it was the resolution I uploaded at or what but the video on the camera is seamless.

Im curious as to how many hunters out there use a crossbow to hunt and how many have converted from compound bow to crossbow and if they enjoy using them?

Any of you members of the NCBHA? What advantages have you gained from your membership? I'm looking for 'regular members' input not President, etc etc.

When I got home from work 2day Huntman asked if we could shoot the bows and I told him sure. We'd been shootin' for about 30 minutes when huntman got his first ever 'Robinhood'. He has a youth Hoyt Banshee and was shootin' from 25yds. I thought it was pretty cool and pretty good for a…

The Great Bow Hunter Randy Ulmer won the 2013 100 yard broad head contest in Arizona. His comment on Hoyt's Facebook pages was, 'why shoot at 100 yards with broadheads you might ask? Maybe because you can, and it makes that 40-yard shot of a lifetime feel like a chip-shot' Check out his photos.
