  • The Clinton House Growing BIG BUCKS

Mike Johnson at The Clinton House Plantation is growing some great looking bucks. Quality Management and making easy access to food sources for the deer has been a huge part of the success.

It was a rainy Sunday morning, the acorns were falling like rain on a secluded white oak ridge. Hunter Sam Vaughn was watching the hill and noticed movement off to his side. Slowly turning so he wouldn't spook the game, he saw the flicker of a white tail and a deer faded away into the brush. He reached for his trusty Remington .308 and moved into position in hopes that the deer would reappear.

Seconds later, up from the creek bed jumps a beautiful 8 point buck. He stands still and looks up the ridge towards Sam. The bucks puts his head down and begins to eat acorns and slowly turns broadside. Sam sets his sights on the shoulder of the buck and gently squeezes the trigger. It was a PERFECT shot and the bullet made its mark. The buck jumped and ran just down the hill less than 30 yards into the creek bed.

Another successful hunt for The Clinton House Plantation and a GREAT TROPHY for Sam Vaughn of Columbia, SC.

The buck is being mounted by Hamilton Outfitters Taxidermy and Deer Processing in Easley, SC
