New to this site and new to NC. Splititng time between Pa and Holly Ridge. I am truly impressed with the size and quality of the deer I am seeing in NC. Hopefully, I can share some of what us Yankee's have and I think you will see NC is way under rated and let's keep it that way! Now, IMHO, this is a upper 140 class buck. 3 1/2 years old. A little belly bulge but no sway in the back. Now that he has what he will be, given time, he will get mass. If you have the capability (Ie the land permision, and can be selective) pass him, then hit the area with minerals (Ie Trophy Rock) and good food. Either a plot or high protein pellets. Take the doe's for meat. This buck is on his way to being a jaw dropper. Here in Pa the mentality has been, if it is legal, kill it. Slowly, ever so slowly, that generation is going away. We are getting some 4 1/2 year olds and some really impressive body weights. It seem's the NC folks are more in tune with creating big bucks. I sat in a blind in Holly Ridge on my property and passed a n 8 that would have been in the local paper here. Keep us posted on what you did

My guess is 135. Really good for an 8 point. Super nice buck.

He's probably 4 or older, but who cares what he scores. If you see a mature buck like that in the daylight give 'em a dirt nap and be sure to hang him in a meat locker for a couple weeks before butchering him up. Good luck to ya.

Had the deer on camera the past couple of years and hunted him in rifle season. this past season I took up bow hunting and actually through confusion with the land owner and the farmer lost hunting rights to the land until the first week of rifle season so I didn't have the chance to hunt him during bow season or muzzleloading season. A guy a mile down the creek that bordered the property killed the buck. He never seen the deer on camera or knew a deer of that size was there. property I have has always produced big deer but is difficult to hunt. I get tons of bucks on camera every year but its always at night so this year I hope to have a little more luck as ive began to bow hunt. None around me there bowhunts so im hoping to get a jump on everyone and get started while they aren't pressured.last year a big buck I was hunting ( 15 point scored 152')was killed. this deer will score close to the same.
