53 Days and Counting

Well, just 53 days and counting before Bow Season begins....but who's counting? I sure am!!!!! I haven't been out scouting very much what little I have done, the deer are locked in their summer patterns and are easy to find early mornings and late afternoons.

Let's see some views from your favorite stand locations! Here is one that I have a lot of success from with easy access. Last year it was covered in beans.....this year peanuts. There's nothing like peanut butter flavored venison.....lol!

I am so ready man....After not hardly going all of last year I am super excited about this year. I probably will only get to go once or twice a week but that is better than 10-12 sits the entire season lol...

I have deleted a lot of my treestand selfies so here is a selfie from my victim's view. She ducked about 10-12 inches but fortunately I was aiming low. You can see my hang on in the back ground. I have killed probably 10-12 does from this stand. Seen a lot of bucks but none old enough to shoot. There is not a lot of cover which is the only bad thing but for it to be open like it is I never really got busted in this spot. There is ag field behind it and 1000 acre +/- cutover to the left of the picture that Corbett owns...You ALWAYS saw deer from this stand...The pigs kind of ruined it though but this will always be one of my top 3 stands....

This is the view from my stand. It was good to me last year minus the cramped one man stand I had hooked to the Killing Tree. I upgraded to a 2 man for this season. I have the stand anchored in and the trail cams running. Opening day cant come fast enough

Nope, we are actually have been getting cams out this past week. We don't have one oout on this particular farm yet but we will come Friday. The farm was sold but luckily I friends with the family that bought it and they gave us permission to keep hunting. Unfortunately they planted cotton this year and there is hardly any sign at all....There has not been cotton there in the last 75 years according to the previous landowner which inherited it...Not sure how that will effect pigs but they will still be around I'm sure....

How do you like that single-pin sight? What do you sight it in at, and then how much of a difference is there (in inches) on a deer's body for going 10 yards further out (given your draw length and draw weight, etc.)

Hawk this is the TruGlo TG701. It's a single pin adjustable that doubles as a pendulum. Every bow speed will vary but the instructions say to find your 20 yards with it adjust it on your riser until the indicator pin (moveable yardage pin) is near the bottom of the scale and mark it on the sight tape. Once you've done that find 30, 40 etc. I have mine set out to 100 yards. When you are in the tree, release the pendulum with the indicator pin set at 20 yards. My bow is #70 pound draw and I'm chronoing at 294fps. I shoot the 20 yard pin from zero to 40 yards. And it's dead on. If you pick up a deer coming in at 40 yards, just keep the pin on it all the way to your tree. It's like shooting a rifle scope. I find out through trial and error that I can move it up to the 40 yard mark and shoot 40 yards to 65 yards. The instructions don't tell you that. Once again every bow will vary. TruGlo says out to 35 yards. I would hate to have to shoot fixed pins. This thing is a tree hunters best friend.....no adjusting as the deer moves around on the ground. They are hard to find but I have found them on-line. Make sure it's TG701. It also has a pin light on it.

This is not the same buck. I killed a 10 pointer or 11 point how you look at it in 2009. This is a 12 pointer in 2014. I am just have been bless to be able to harvest nice bucks.
