  • Offshore- A New Season

Finally, my schedule and the calm seas met each other on the same day and made it possible to head offshore fishing. Gary and I met up with Troy Ham, Randall Knapp, Greg Bacento from Fayetteville, NC. Bryan Dedeaux from Laurel, MD. and Kerwin Steele from Garner, NC. It was beautiful morning with calm winds and a flat ocean. We made our way South around forty miles where the water had warmed up from the low fiftys the high sixtys.

My first stop was on a ledge that was positioned right to present a current block from the very strong currents we had today. I got the boat set up to where when we dropped our baits they would fall just behind the ledge and immediately it was 'game on' the guys were putting the fish in the boat left and right. I do believe that the fast bite was due to soaking our baits overnight in PRO-CURE'S Squid oil. This added more scent into the water and it really turned the fish on, this is good stuff!!!

We caught some of the prettiest Vermillion Snappers I have seen in a while today, just too bad the season was closed on them and we had to let them go. But, they were replaced with some very large Black Sea Bass, Triggerfish, Grey Snappers, Silver Snappers, Calico Bass, Americam Red Snappers(released as well), and sharks.

We even got Phil in the picture today, Phil has been the man over the years that has professionally cleaned, bagged, and labeled our fisherman's fish for us. He's one of the most honest and careing people I have ever had to honor to know!!! Phil, yeah that's him holding up the two Black Bass!!

All in all it was a great start to the 2014 charter season and it should just get better and better as spring turns into summer. We are off and running now so get booked before all the fishing days for this year are all booked up, we don't have a lot left open..... Be safe on the water and God Bless You All!!!

    Fish On!!!!
