  • Cabela’s North American Bass Circuit on Lake Hartwell Feb. 16

    Joe Birchfield of Hendersonville, NC and Chuck Harrison of Brevard, NC won the Cabela’s North American Bass Circuit tournament on Lake Hartwell on February 16 with a five-fish limit weighing 21 pounds, 6 ounces.

    Birchfield and Harrison said that they caught their fish off a point before 9:00 am on a ½ ounce homemade jigging spoon. The winning team netted $5,200 which included $4,000 in cash, a $1,000 Ranger Cup contingency, and $200 from Optima True Blue.

    Coming in with a close second was Russell Davis of Hartwell, GA and Chad Hart of Danielsville, NC with five fish weighing 20 pounds, 10 ounces, which also included the tournament big fish of 6-pounds, 5-ounces.

    Davis and Hart were fishing a creek channel with a fish head spin and a drop shot rig with a finesse seedless watermelon worm. Davis and Hart won $2,000, plus the big fish prize of $800.

    The third place finishers were Bradley Rhodes of Hendersonville, NC and Chris Dorlan of Waynesville, NC with 15 pounds, 12 ounces and they won $1200. Rhodes and Dorlan were casting an umbrella rig along the creek banks in 4-5 feet of water.

    The next Cabela’s North American Bass Circuit’s will be on Lake Lanier in Georgia on March 22.
