  • Virgina Mullet (whiting) and Trout

After the great bite that we experienced yesterday and the temperatures here in Southport, NC warming to near 70 degrees! We couldn't help but to try our luck again today with the Whitings. First stop and the bite was on once again! Nice sized Whitings (Virginia Mullet) were coming over the side of the Yeah Right III nearly as fast as we could get our lines in the water! Notice the Yeah Right III, that's right, after many requests Capt. Butch is bringing the Inshore/Backwater charters back again this year, for more information just check out the 'INSHORE BOAT' link on our website. After filling the cooler up with Whitings for the table, we decided to go in search of some Speckled Trout!

Once again Capt. Butch knew just where to go and his experience on the water and expertise with tackle selection and technique proved to be a deadly combination and it wasn't long until we were catching Speckled Trout literally Every Cast!!! In the last hour and a half before sunset he and I boated over 50 Specks and since we had a cooler full of Whitings from the couple hours fishing earlier, we decided to release the Trout and let them swim to bite another day! It was great fun and the fish were biting too!

Check out the pics below, just a few of the MANY Trout caught today!! We hope to see you on the water soon!

    Til then, FISH ON!!!
