What an exciting morning of opening bow season. I went on an early hunt Saturday morning, September 7, 2013. I had been watching a nice buck before on my deer camera. That is why I decided to hunt this deer stand that was on a deer trail. At 7:35 a.m, I heard something walking on the deer trail. I couldn't believe what I saw. It was a thirteen pointer with three stickers and my heart dropped! As I drew my Matthews bow back, he looked up and started to stomp his feet. It was too late at that point. I let go of the release and he almost jumped the string. When he jumped the arrow was just in front of the ham. As he ran off, I was in shock and hoping I could find the deer. I thought that I could see him going down in the distance. I sat in my stand another hour to make sure that he would not get up. Ten minutes after the first buck was shot, I heard a second deer walking down the deer trail. I saw that it was a nice eight pointer so I drew my Matthews back for a second time and let my Muzzy MX4 do the job. He dropped in his tracks. When I went to recover my trophy buck I was able to locate him in the area that I thought he went down. When I saw him up close I could not believe my eyes. I am glad all my hard work and endurance paid off. I am proud to have accomplished a trophy buck this big at the age of seventeen.
