  • Georgetown Speckled Trout on Fire

The sea trout bite is hot in the Georgetown area, especially in the Mud Bay and Winyah Bay areas. The early morning bite is good with topwater lures like Heddon Saltwater Spooks and Sebile Ghost Walkers.

As the morning bite wanes, anglers are switching to soft plastics like DOA Shrimp and Vudu Shrimp.

Popular colors for both the topwater and soft plastic lures include chartreuse and other bright colors like hot pink.

Casting the soft plastics into current and allowing the bait to drift, then reeling the lure in slowly and giving the rod tip an occasional pop is a good strategy, and some anglers are having success by letting the lure sink all the way to the bottom before starting their retrieve.
