Caswell, I have shot Delta SS Fixed one piece broad heads in the past, they are similar to a Muzzy. After the pass season where I hit a deer marginally and another one high, I went out and bought some Rages. I have heard nothing but good things about Rage and Swhacker broad heads and people rave about the blood trails both produce.
Muzzy makes a Bad Head!!! So does NAP in the HellRazor and Thunderhead but My Great Pal Diane found some 2 inch RAGE on markdown for $14 or something like that? and hooked me up so I'm shooting the 100 grain RAGE heads this year...I have to say that out of my Assassin they do fly true to my sight and so far I love them!!! With Muzzys, I found myself putting numbers on my arrows as to which 1 flew the best and then 2nd and so on but with these Rage, I'm scared to shoot to close to the same spot...Just hope I don't goof on another Great Buck.....EVER!!!!!
I was always a fixed broad-head guy but started shooting the Rage 100 grain 2 blade chisel tip last year for the first time. All I can say is they will put a hurt on a deer. This year Rage has the Hypodermic......all stainless with a much smaller diameter head. They look promising but they open up a lot flatter than the standard rage. I would guess they would fly better but the standard ones are pretty impressive. That chisel tip will, and I proved it, cut a deer leg off clean.
Good luck. Just remember.....you can kill a deer with a target tip if it's place right.
Muzzy is a good head. I started shooting them in 125 grain because that's what came with the used bow I bought. I shot them for years until I started playing with arrow weight and spline. As soon as I changed to blazer vanes my arrows started getting steered by the fixed broad-head, and my accuracy went way down. When I dropped my vanes to shield-cut 1 3/4 I really had a problem and went to rage for arrow dynamics and flight control. Fixed heads are trouble free and never fail....I can say that!
