Well we started out this morning about 9 am with not much luck. We sat for an hour and decided to go back to the house because it was really windy. After taking a lunch break and hangin out for a while my son and I headed back out to the field. We set up around 345 and I put out my jake and feeding hen decoy. After a few yelps and some soft purrs about every 15 minutes on the friction call three jakes showed up in the bottom of the field. I look over to tell my son birds are coming and wouldn't you know it, he's asleep. So I calmly wake him up and get him oriented, he sees the 3 jakes heading for the decoys on a run and springs to life... I get him set up to shoot and he says dad I got the dot on his head about 5 times... problem was all 3 were bunched together around the hen decoy... eventually 2 of them move up to the jake decoy and the one is separate... I tell him to shoot the back one. that's all it took he pulls the trigger and the bird went limp at 15yds. he yells I got him! made me the proudest i've ever been!
