If I was you!

GT summed it up! The whole lake can be great, but you can spend a week trying to catch a limit, if you let it overwhelm you! If there is current, fishing can be great! If the main lake near Southmont is muddy, go on down Hwy 8 to flat swamp and fish or Abbotts. I like it up river around log jams with spinnerbaits when there is current. But, if you don't know the lake I would just stay out from up there! When it is muddy the main lake will tear your boat to pieces. It isn't uncommon to see whole trees floating down river. Add the wind it can be dangerous! I would just fish as close to the weigh in spot as possible and not try to run all the way to other end of the lake. There is a lot of brushpiles in High Rock, so plan on losing a lot of lures. But, if you fish structure good then Spiderjigs can't be beat! Patience is key! Don't be too proud to drop the front anchor upwind and fish a spot from the back of the boat. That way you fish a spot out and not spend all your time using a trolling motor to get back on the point or dropoff! You can catch a limit on one or two good spots. GL
