Haven't had much time to hunt since the rut came in but I got a chance to go out yesterday afternoon. Got in the stand early, around 2:15. It was a cool and very wendy afternoon. I didn't see any action until about 5:00. I thought I heard a grunt back in the thicket behind me so I took out my Primos Long Can and used it a couple of times. Seconds later I heard a deer come crashing through the thicket and then stopped just before stepping out into the open. I hit my bleat can one more time and he stepped right out looking for a hot doe, giving me a perfect broadside shot at 25 yards. One shot to the heart with my Remington 700 .30-06 put him down after running about 40 yards away. Not a monster by any means but a decent buck and the first I have killed in four years. Couldn't be happier with this harvest.
