  • Banded Drake Wood Duck

Kellen Tompkins likes to start his days off with a little duck hunting, and this morning he was rewarded a little bit more than he has been lately. He's had no trouble limiting out on wood ducks in his waterfowl honey hole, but his bonus today was in the form of a banded wood duck. The bird carried a band that was applied in Maryland.

Tompkins downed the prize bird in Clarendon County with his trusty Remington 870 pump, a gun that has dropped many ducks over the years.

After the hunt, Tompkins placed the band on his call lanyard along with a few others he has collected. He said it's always a special day when you can add another band to your lanyard.
