Sat in Francis Marion for the first time this season 2 days ago. After a short scouting session I found what appeared to be a nice spot in a old stand of pines that had been hit by the fires last year right next to some young pines that had not been burned. About a half hour before dark I started seeing movement. Within 20 minutes saw 5 does exit the young pines which appear to be a bedding area. Four of these deer were so close i cold have jumped out the stand on them. I passed up on them sense my freezer is already packed (see my post 'slayin deer')hoping for a buck but never saw anything else. Yesterday I got out there to do some more scouting and found a real nice active scrape at the crossroads of several game trails so I decided to sit it this morning. Saw at least two deer walking through dense cover but never got a shot on them. When i got down I went and checked the scrape and saw a buck had been working it last night. Gonna have to hunt this spot some more. Hopefully the buck making it will show itself!
