  • Panfish Time at Santee

Catfishing and bass fishing are pretty slow on Lake Moultrie right now, but panfishing is good for both crappie and bream.

Capt. Steve English has been having good luck with both species. He suggests fishing for crappie in 7-18 feet of water, concentrating on brushpiles. Minnows and jigs are both working, and some nice 2+ pound crappie have been caught recently.

He's also been catching plenty of bream, and he says they are scattered throughout the lake and can generally be caught in 3-5 feet around any type of structure. Worms are okay for bait, but crickets are your best bet.
