  • Edisto Gov. Cup - Day Three

The offshore fishing bite rebounded a bit from the doldrums of Friday, but a Northeast wind also kicked in that made the seas more choppy. Trash Man, Major Motion and Sportin' Life all managed to release two sailfish each on the final day of fishing, while some of the Governor's Cup leaders got blanked. Rascal, a 50-foot Hatteras, won the Edisto Billfish Tourney on the strength of their four billfish releases on Thursday, even though they fished Saturday with no luck. Second place (Game On) and third place (Lil'Bit) were also the same as after Day One of fishing. In fact all the meatfish leaders also held their ground - making Thursday by far the best day of fishing. Overall series contender Daymaker also had no releases on the final day of the Gov. Cup Series, but owner Mark Daniels did manage to bring a nice 28.5-pound dolphin the scales. Other catches of note from Saturday include Trey Kemmerlin's 28.4-wahoo from Plumber's Wet Dream and Paul Aimar's 15.4-pound bonita from Split Bill.

Oh boy, that dolphin had a rough day. 'oh, a free meal. Hey there's a hook in my mouth. I'm being attacked! Saved by the humans! Uh oh, this box doesn't look like such a great place to spend the day.'

That sounds like a wild tournament with the top places not changing hands after day one. I bet the Rascal crew was surprised to win after coming in empty-handed on the last day?
